In addition to his current role with Collins Aerospace, he has served as Sr. Director of Products for STS, Sr. Director of Visual Systems and Sr. Director of Air Combat and Ground Solutions. STS provides a complete suite of products and services for use in in visual real-time simulation applications in government and commercial markets worldwide—flight simulators, helicopter and driver trainers, engineering research and the like. STS provides simulation products and solutions used in simulation training environments for government, military and civilian airline training devices. Mr. Gibbs also serves on the Board of Directors for The Leonardo, a science and technology museum in Salt Lake City and participates on the Technology and Venture Commercialization Committee with the University of Utah.

He is the Director of the Visual Pyschophysics and Perception Laboratory at the Université de Montréal, Canada. Dr. Faubert holds a number of patents, in the U.S. and internationally, on technologies related to vision, brain function, virtual reality, and human performance. Professor Faubert has been involved in the award-winning technological transfer of research and developments from the laboratory into the commercial domain.

Tom is the Founder and Director of the Operator Performance Laboratory (OPL) at the Center for Computer Aided Design. Tom has an undergraduate degree in EE and an MS and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering with a specialization in Human Factors. He is a Commercial pilot, research test pilot, and flight instructor with helicopter, jet, and glider ratings. His total flight time in manned aircraft is 5800 hours. Tom’s research focuses on pilot spatial orientation capability, assessment of operator performance in flight, surface transportation, and airwarfare systems. Tom is a member of several technical societies and committees including the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, Transportation Research Board (TRB), the International Illumination Committee (CIE), and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). He has authored or co-authored over 90 technical papers.
